Description of the event
Bringing together international and French institutional actors, as well as researchers, media, NGOs, and representatives from the private sector, this event, organized by VIGINUM and the OECD with the support of the Ministry of Culture, aims to explore the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in the fight against information manipulation and the protection of information integrity.
Agenda
Welcome address by Anne-Sophie DHIVER, Deputy Head of VIGINUM.
Opening remarks by Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture.
In the aftermath of 2024 “super-election” year, this session will explore how the emergence of Generative AI is reshaping the threat that Foreign Information Manipulation and Interferences (FIMIs) pose to the integrity of online information.
There is a trend of increased concentration in the information space. The rise of AI, combined with the algorithmic mechanisms of social networks, threatens the very foundation of trust in information: the ability of citizens to distinguish truth from falsehood. What are the priority measures to support the production and dissemination of reliable information in the era of generative AI and AI assistants?
Capitalizing on the expertise of VIGINUM's Datalab, this session will showcase how AI-powered solutions, such as Large Language Models (LLM), can be leveraged to detect and analyse Foreign information manipulation campaigns
As AI-powered solutions offer a wide-range of new opportunities for governments and non-government actors for strengthening information integrity. This session will explore how AI can play a role in enhancing information integrity, alongside with its technical and ethical challenges.
Closing remarks by Stéphane BOUILLON, Secretary general for defense and national security.
